CEDMO

The Central European Digital Media Observatory (CEDMO) is an international, multidisciplinary consortium based at Charles University in Prague and supported by the European Commission under the DIGITAL-2023-DEPLOY-04 call for proposals (project number 101158609).

Since 2021, CEDMO has focused on activities related to digital transformation and information disruptions, primarily in Central Europe. The specialized team consisting of researchers from the social sciences field, analysts, journalists, fact-checkers, and experts identifies and analyzes the main sources of undesirable phenomena and information disruptions. The team offers recommendations that enable civil society, public institutions, and the private sector to better respond to the decline in trust in key institutions and to better counter these growing, harmful influences.

NASK is one of the key partners in the Polish component of CEDMO that focuses on countering disinformation, strengthening media literacy, and researching information disruptions in Central Europe. Within the CEDMO project, NASK coordinated the work package dedicated to media literacy, focusing on the development of social competencies in critical thinking, information verification, and countering disinformation. It also conducted research on the phenomenon of disinformation, its mechanisms, and its impact on society and the information environment.
